Eyes are the windows to the soul. In this artwork, I've captured six pairs of eyes—each showing a different emotion: happiness, sadness, and anger. The torn paper layered over them represents how our feelings are complex, overlapping, and sometimes hidden beneath the surface.
I wanted to show that emotions rarely exist alone. We can feel happy and sad at the same time. Anger can mix with understanding. By repeating each emotion twice, I'm suggesting that feelings are layered and constantly changing.
Graphite pencil for the realistic skin and facial features
Colored pencil for the bright turquoise eyes—making them stand out and draw your attention
Torn paper to symbolize raw, fragmented emotions
Shadow details to create depth and make the eyes appear to push through
The torn paper isn't just decoration. It represents:
How emotions come to us in messy, incomplete pieces
The barriers we build between what we feel and what we show
Vulnerability hidden beneath layers we've created
